With the coming of the new season comes changes in the weather, changes in what we wear, and also changes in how we feel. We start to shed the layers of clothes and notice the layers our body has gained. It’s the perfect time to really get serious about getting fit. Here are three tips to help you get started.
1. Plan fun activities that match the weather
Spring weather can be a bit unpredictable. You either get rainy days, cloudy days, sunny days, or those days that are in between. So, plan fun activities according to the weather. On sunny days, go for a brisk walk, jog or run. The sun on your face will give you the energy you need to get pushing from block to block and mile to mile. On cloudy days I like to brighten my day by going to a yoga class. There’s nothing like the sun salutation pose to help me imagine that sun warming my body while getting leaner and stronger.
2. Set a date and make a date
Be strategic about when you want to start a new Spring fitness plan. Set your start date and include a few of your friends. Whether you all start going to a local morning boot camp or evening runs, having a set date to begin along with good friends to join you, will help you succeed.
3. Write it down
To keep yourself accountable, track your progress, and record how you feel about your fitness journey, start a journal. It’s a great way to express how you feel before and/or after you workout. As you progress, you can look back and read how walking one mile was so hard to do when you first started, but now you are able to run three miles with ease.
Ladies, Spring is the time for growth and new beginnings- tulips blooming, birds nesting, and YOU getting closer to a healthier life and better body. Let’s go, Ladies!
