Mexican Tostadas

A traditionally not so healthy yet delicious dish called “tostadas” I have now made HEALTHY! Still a great taste with over 3/4 less calories and good for you ingredients. I always tell my readers, eating healthy doesn’t have to be tasteless or boring. You just have to get creative or try all of my recipes 🙂

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  1. Wheat tortillas
  2. Ground turkey
  3. Sea salt
  4. Garlic powder
  5. Ground pepper
  6. Yellow onions
  7. Plain Greek yogurt
  8. 2 tomatos
  9. 1-2 lemon
  10. 1 bunch of cilantro

HOW TO PREPARE

This is very easy to make. Season your ground turkey with a sprinkle of sea salt, ground pepper, and garlic powder. Dice a handful of onions. Spray your cooking spray in a non stick frying pan, heat it over medium heat, add the onions and let them cook until a light brown – usually 2 minutes. When the onions are light brown NOT dark brown add the turkey and cook it – 20-30 minutes depending on how much you add. Cook until ready. When ready turn off the pan and leave the turkey in it. While cooking turn on your oven to 350 and put your wheat tortillas in the oven to bake – usually 5-6 minutes. The key it to cook them util they are crispy. When making the tortillas keep an eye not hem so they don’t burn. Put the tortilla on a plate, add the turkey, put the Chimol on top, add salsa, a little cheese and a spoon of Greek yogurt on top as a substitution to sour cream. Now enjoy 🙂

ADDITIONAL INGREDIENTS: 

You can also add beans, guacamole, a sprinkle of parmesan cheese, and shredded cabbage or shredded mixed green salad.
