Check out this selfie I took. Not one ounce of makeup on my skin! No lipgloss, no mascara, nothing but a glow! How did I get this glow? Let me in on my little secret 🙂
Four years ago I was at my friends house and noticed she had coconut oil in her bathroom. I asked her what it was used for? She told me she uses it for her face and body. She said she would apply it every night before she went to bed and that her skin has improved since. She said she was afraid to use it at first because she has acne prone skin but the beauty tip came from someone who said that it would not worsen her skin condition. That sold me on it and so I tried it.
I bought it at Trader Joes, it’s called; Organic Virgin Coconut Oil. As long as it’s raw virgin coconut oil any brand is fine to purchase!
It has now been over 4 years since I have been using it and WOW it is amazing. Not only is my skin clear but it’s glowing and feels healthy. After reading up on the benefits of applying raw coconut oil on your face I will never look back. It is also great for early age prevention and softening wrinkles.
Another little gem I found recently was Tea Tree Oil! Tea tree oil is incredible to battle acne, dry skin and many other therapeutic reasons. I personally started using tea tree oil due to a dry scalp. I notice when i’m most stressed my scalp takes a crazy turn and decides to get drying than the Sahara deserts. It sucks!!!
One day I decided to look deeper into the medicinal purposes of tea tree oil. I read it was incredible to clear up skin, particularly acne. While I don’t have acne I do sit in makeup for hours on end when I am filming tv shows. The lights and makeup for 18 hours always take a beating on my skin. So I decided to add a few drops of it to my already nightly routine of coconut oil and WOW my skin woke up with a glow that was different from just using coconut oil alone. You can buy it anywhere. I get mine online, Walmart, Rite Aid, Duane Reed, and Sally’s beauty supply stores.
Here are the two tea tree oils I use!
- Tea Tree Oil by Hollywood Beauty (click here to view online)
- Edens Garden, (Melaleuca) 100% Pure Therapeutic Grade Essential Oil (click here to review & shop online)
I also wash my skin with Aveeno Moisturizing Bar. This is the only thing I use to wash my face. You can buy it everywhere. I prefer this one over the foaming cleanser. Check out Aveeno’s website HERE!
HOW TO USE
Get a clear teaspoon, scoop 1 very small teaspoon of coconut oil, place in your palm. Add 2 drops of tea tree oil in the same palm. Rub it together in your palm. Over a clean face, lather your face with the oils, leave it on overnight. Yes! Leave it on, it will absorb into your skin nicely. You can also add it on as a daily moisturizer. Just make sure it’s not too heavy for your daily makeup routine. And always add SPF over it to protect your lovely face 🙂
